WHAT IS YOGA ??
Yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science, which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. It is an art and scince of healthy living. The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to yoke’ or ‘to unite’. As per Yogic scriptures the practice of Yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the Universal Consciousness, indicating a perfect harmony between the mind and body, Man & Nature. According to modern scientists, everything in the universe is just a manifestation of the same quantum firmament. One who experiences this oneness of existence is said to be in yoga, and is termed as a yogi, having attained to a state of freedom referred to as mukti, nirvana or moksha. Thus the aim of Yoga is Self-realization, to overcome all kinds of sufferings leading to 'the state of liberation' (Moksha) or ‘freedom’ (Kaivalya).

WHAT WILL MY FIRST SESSION BE LIKE?
A session is usually 60 Minutes long, with an initial consulting time to talk about your intentions, areas of focus, whether you are just beginning and wanting to gain some confidence to join group classes, or if you're looking to advance your personal practice. I aim to provide detailed guidance into the asana, the principles of yoga, and modified asana to help during times of injury or discomfort. We always begin warming up properly with the aim of focusing on where the intention of the practice will lead into. The 1 on 1 Session continues to guide and teach you more about moving in and out of the asana, patience, openness, the commitment to show up on your mat, respecting your body’s boundaries and its edge, learning to connect with sensation and your breath and the willingness to be in the present moment are all things we take time to go deeper in, in a very attentive 1 on 1 session.

WHAT WILL I NEED ?
All Yoga equipment is provided for A 1 on 1 Yoga Class, Mats, Blocks, Straps and Bolsters are all provided to facilitate a successful class for all involved. You are more than welcome to use your own mat for your class and if you require 1 there will always be 1 available for you. I highly recommend comfortable breathable clothing for the class and a water bottle to hydrate throughout and after the session if needed. The most important thing required for a class is nothing more than your open self, everything else is provided to help assist in providing a confident building and relaxing, educating class to leave you feeling far more comfortable with your practice whether you're just beginning or looking to further your own personal practice.
